It is easy to see why William Penn chose Bucks County
as his home when he moved to his newly founded Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania in 1682. The county's picturesque setting makes it ideal
for both residents and visitors looking for a quiet escape. There is a
little something for everyone throughout Bucks County's 607 square
miles of diverse landscapes. Lower Bucks also contains the
distinguished Council Rock School District. Based in Newtown, a
community whose colonial history is evident in its majestic
pre-Revolutionary homes, and covering five municipalities, the school
district boasts the most up-to-date technology and facilities. The
school district focuses on a comprehensive and extensive education for
all of its students, who regularly score much higher on standardized
tests than the national average. Council Rock also has extremely
successful athletic and co-curricular programs that give students
opportunities to excel outside of the traditional classroom.
