Diversity of Education
Greater Philadelphia provides a wide range of K-12 educational opportunities with approximately 900 private schools, both religious and non-religious, and 14 International Baccalaureate schools.

Excellence in Public Schools
During the 2009/2010 school year, 79 public and charter schools exceeded the national average in SAT scores, with three schools – Princeton High School in New Jersey, Julia R. Masterman in Philadelphia, and the Charter School of Wilmington in Delaware – bettering the average by one full standard deviation.

Top High Schools
In 2011, Newsweek Magazine identified 20 public high schools in the region on their list of top public high schools in the U.S.

  • In its annual ranking of the country's high schools, Newsweek magazine ranked several Bucks and Montgomery institutions among the top 500 in the nation for 2011. Council Rock North came in at 246; Central Bucks East came in at 255; Central Bucks West at 274; Council Rock South at 314 and North Penn at 425.
  • Vocational-technical high schools are available in every Greater Philadelphia county.
