- The University of Pennsylvania, ranked third among research-based medical schools by U.S. News and World Report, is one of six universities affiliated with large healthcare systems in the region.
- Other university and healthcare system partnerships include Temple, Drexel, and Thomas Jefferson Universities, the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School at Camden.
