Philadelphia's Public Transit System Ranked Among Best in Country

Philadelphia's Public Transit System Ranked Among Best in Country

Philadelphia's public transportation system is ranked fifth in the country, according to a new study by Walk Score.

Transit Score measures how well a location is served by public transit based on the number of nearby routes and the frequency, type of route (rail, bus, etc.), and distance to the nearest stop for each, the Walk Score site says.

University of Delaware, State Partner to Create Electric Vehicle Charging Station Network

Charging stations for electric vehicles will be strategically placed at key locations in Delaware to enable long trips in the state by next year, through a new collaborative research agreement between the University of Delaware and the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC).

Rowan University is launching an ambitious plan to transform health care delivery with support from a $3.05 million grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF). Through new education and research programs, the 18-month project will develop innovative approaches that respond to the region's emerging needs for access to affordable and effective health care services.

Investing in People and Places

Select Greater Philadelphia is proud to be a co-convener for The Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission's (DVRPC) series of events titled “Investing in People and Places.” These events will discuss the region's economic development priorities. The “Investing in People and Places” series is part of the DVRPC's effort to update the region's Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy, which is required by the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) every five years.

Join DVRPC, the Economy League of Greater Philadelphia, Select Greater Philadelphia, the Southern New Jersey Development Council, Ben Franklin Technology Partners, and other economic development leaders at one, two, or all three of the “Investing in People and Places” events to discuss Greater Philadelphia’s priorities for economic development, public investment, job creation, and talent retention and attraction. As speakers are confirmed, agendas will be posted on the CEDS project webpage: www.dvrpc.org/economic/ceds.htm.

Every Business is a Digital Business: From Digitally Disrupted to Digital Disrupters

Technology is now intertwined with nearly every aspect of business. Information technology is not only pervasive; it is fast becoming a primary driver of market differentiation, business growth, and profitability. Is your company where it needs to be?

Accenture's Chief Technology Officer, Paul Daugherty, will lead this session that is focused on the six themes presented in the 2014 Accenture Tech Vision with a general overview of each theme and its application. Attendees will be able to engage in a live technology product demonstration of emerging technologies such as Google Glass, 3D printing and data visualization during the networking breakfast prior to the start of the program. Following the keynote presentation, an executive panel discussion will encourage attendees to participate in further dialogue on what it means to be digitally disrupted and being a digital disruptor.
