When Seung-Woo Song first came to the Greater Philadelphia Region four years ago as Managing Director with Osstem — world leader in dental implants – he was impressed with the area and its life sciences infrastructure.

The best location between two others.

Two years later, as the new Managing Director for Meta Bio-Med, another dental tech firm, he led its search for a U.S. sales headquarters. He looked west, east, northwest and south, but "Greater Philadelphia’s proximity to capital on Wall Street and FDA and NIH regulators in Washington, D.C. were critical advantages", he says. "You can get to either city and back in one day. Land and labor costs are more reasonable here, too. We anticipate building a manufacturing facility in a year."

The chemistry was right, too.

"The region’s universities also provide us graduates with the right chemistry and biology skills," he adds. "Plus, the people from Select Greater Philadelphia (the region’s economic development organization) are very devoted. Probably one of the most important factors for foreign companies looking to enter the U.S. market."
