From Fried Food to Fuel
Philadelphia Fry-O-Diesel recently became one of the first companies in the country to make trap-grease fuel that meets national standards. Trap-grease fuel utilizes the contents of restaurant tanks, which collects the material from restaurant sinks, dishwashers and floor drains to prevent clogging sewer lines. It is the newest biodiesel innovation and Fry-O-Diesel received over $360,000 from the state of Pennsylvania to devise a system, which is now patent-pending, to clean and treat the grease so that it can be used as fuel. The company hopes to have a commercial-scale plant producing three million gallons of Fry-O-Diesel a year by mid-2008.
