The Power of Turkey Litter

Bucks County alternative energy company Fibrowatt LLC is gaining attention as it opens a power plant in Minneosta which burns turkey litter to produce electricity. Fibrowatt is a British company that plans to continue expanding operations into other big poultry states. In addition to its chief operating officer being from Abington, Fibrowatt’s CEO Rupert Fraser said that he located the U.S. headquarters in the Greater Philadelphia region because he wanted a location close both to chicken farms and a major airport. Fibrowatt LLC is a Philadelphia-based developer, builder, owner and operator of electricity power plants fueled by poultry litter and other agricultural biomass. Fibrowatt LLC is a subsidiary of Homeland Renewable Energy LLC, and was founded in 2000 by the management team which pioneered the use of poultry litter to produce electricity, building the world's first three such plants in the UK in the 1990s.
