New Non-stop Flights Available Out of PHL

Southwest Airlines recently announced that they are adding new, nonstop service between Philadelphia and Austin, San Antonio and St. Louis.There will be one nonstop to both Austin and San Antonio (the only nonstop service in these markets); as well as two nonstops to St. Louis.

In other recent air transportation news, the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) announced this fall that it awarded US Airways a new route between its Philadelphia hub and the Chinese capital city of Beijing . The daily, nontop service to China will begin in 2009.

US Airways also recently announced that it would begin flying between Philadelphia and London 's Heathrow Airport as of March 2008. It will compete with British Airways, which currently has twice-daily roundtrip flights between the two airports. US Airways will also continue its flights between PHL and London Gatwick, the route it has had for the last decade.

US Airways currently serves 19 million customers annually at its Philadelphia hub, and operates 417 daily flights to 111 destinations in the United States , Canada , Europe, the Caribbean and Latin America .
