Although you might think it was a local IT company, it was Shire Pharmaceuticals that graciously donated 400 laptops to Wireless Philadelphia's Digital Inclusion Program. Wireless Philadelphia is a nonprofit organization dedicated to managing the construction and operation of a wireless network that provides high-speed Internet access throughout Philadelphia. Its Digital Inclusion Program works with community organizations to help provide equipment and training to those who are not online so that they can access the Internet to improve their lives. Wireless Philadelphia will distribute the donated laptops to government agencies and nonprofits for use in a variety of assistance programs. Recipients will include the Mayor's Office for the Re-Entry of Ex-Offenders, the School District of Philadelphia 's Office of Specialized Services and the Community Women's Education Project.
