Biz Community Fights for Rail Funding

For the first time ever, the business community, led by the CEO Council for Growth, directly advocated on behalf of Amtrak funding.

On April 2nd, the Business Alliance for Northeast Mobility met with members of Congress, including Sens. Tom Carper (D-DE), Arlen Specter (R-PA), Reps. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), Rosa DeLauro (D-CT), and Jim Gerlach (R-PA), and Amtrak President, Alex Kummant. The Alliance lobbied for increased appropriations and to pass the Amtrak reauthorization legislation currently pending in the House, and was well-received.

The CEO Council was the driving force in creating the Alliance, a coalition of business and economic development organizations from the northeast corridor.

Amtrak provides a critical gateway to Greater Philadelphia from the financial capital of the world, New York, and the political capital, Washington, DC.
