| BIOTECH CONFERENCE TARGETS DIVERSITY
Select Greater Philadelphia is pleased to be a sponsor of the bench2BUSINESS Conference and Awards Celebration - a regional gathering of scientists, researchers, investors, and policymakers all coming together to advance people of color in the business of the life sciences. The conference is being organized by iPRAXIS and the Osiris Group, with partial funding from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, PA BIO, and The Science Center.
Set for Nov. 8-9 in Philadelphia, this innovative venture will draw some 100 scientific investigators of color to strengthen their skills and deepen their capacity in the business side of the life sciences industry. It will also bring attention to those already making an impact in the industry as scientific entrepreneurs.
The full-day conference will take place at the Hub at the Cira Centre on Saturday, Nov. 8; the awards celebration will be held at the Hilton Inn at Penn on Sunday, Nov. 9. The event will feature two keynote speakers, Dr. Ted Love, Chairman and CEO of Nuvelo, Inc., a nationally known biotech and Dr. Yvonne Greenstreet, SVP at GlaxoSmithKline, who has spent 12 years assisting the transition of scientific ideas into successful business ventures. While regional in scope, attendees will come not only from across the state, but also throughout the Eastern Seaboard. The targeted audience is African Americans, Latinos, and other underrepresented groups of color in the sciences.
Hands-on, practical advice is an important feature of bench2BUSINESS. Experienced biotech panelists will explore a specially designed case study with conference participants and there will be ample opportunity for participants to network.
Registration and nomination requests are being fielded now at www.bench2BUSINESS.org . For details, visit the website or call (215) 384-1944.
