INTERNATIONAL TOURISM RATES ON THE RISE

The number of international tourists that visited the Philadelphia area jumped 26 percent from 440,500 in 2006 to 550,000 in 2007, according to figures released by the U.S. Department of Commerce. A release issued by the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau (PCVB) notes that seventy-five percent of the new visitation was driven by a sharp increase in the number of travelers from the PCVB's primary target markets of the United Kingdom, Germany, and France.
