DREAMIT VENTURES HELPS REGIONAL START-UPS Three eager entrepreneurs created a business called DreamIt Ventures, which makes smart investments in early stage companies. In the last few years the founders -- David Bookspan, Michael Levinson and Steven D. Welch -- have become enthusiastic about how quickly and inexpensively great companies can be launched. At the same time they have seen some very talented people with great ideas struggle to pull the pieces together and get over the startup hump. With the help and support of entrepreneurs, technologists, prominent law and accounting firms, angel investor groups and venture capital firms, DreamIt Ventures was born. The goal at DreamIt is to help great people with great ideas build great companies. This summer, the company identified 11 start-ups to assist with seed funding; mentors and advisors; legal, accounting and administration, andintroductions to funding sources. Economic development, universities and funding sources include Innovation Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development, Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Southeastern Pennsylvania, University City Science Center, Temple University, Penn State University, Safeguard, Internet Capital Group, MidCoast Capital, NextStage Capital, RobinHood Ventures and LORE Associates.
