According to a recent report published by the the Economy League of Greater Philadelphia, the region will likely receive more than $600 million from the $48.1 billion in transportation stimulus funds, including approximately $318 for highways in southeastern Pennsylvania, $120 million for highways in southern New Jersey, and $193 million for SEPTA.

Life Science Media Tour in Region Sparks Global Interest

Last month, Select Greater Philadelphia hosted its 2nd International Life Sciences Press Tour which brought in journalists from publications across the globe including Biotech Sweden, Bioworld International, BioPharma International and others.

The tour provided international journalists with an overview of the region's life sciences organizations, the members they represent, and the benefits the region offers these companies.  A number of leaders in Northern Delaware, Southern New Jersey, and Southeastern Pennsylvania assisted in highlighting the Greater Philadelphia region as a key player in life sciences not only in the United States but also globally.

Barcays to Add up to 500 Jobs at Newark Facility

Barclays is opening a customer contact center in Newark and will hire 300 new employees by early April.

Gov. Jack Markell announced the company's decision this month to open the office in the Iron Hill Corporate Center. He says the company could hire as many as 500 employees at its new facility in the next five years.

Cricket Wireless Adds More than 1,400 Jobs in Region

Cricket Communications, Inc., a leading provider of unlimited wireless services, is bringing more than 1,450 jobs to the area, including approximately 1,200 new positions created through the dealer network. Cricket will open 20 retail store locations in the Delaware Valley, with 12 stores in Philadelphia and the remainder spreading out across the surrounding suburbs, South Jersey and Wilmington.

Fox Chase Cancer Center Launches National Magazine

Fox Chase Cancer Center in northeast Philadelphia will soon publish the inaugural issue of Forward, a magazine that will share the Fox Chase story with thousands of people in our region and across the country. Slated to be published at the end of March, the magazine will feature advances in cancer medicine taking place at Fox Chase, as well as profiles of doctors, scientists, and patients.
